local delivery problems for parcels from us


We ship everything with UPS parcel services. We do so for years now, after we had with other forwarding companies rather severe problems.

Now it seems that the massively increased worldwide volume of parcels also may effect the quality of UPS deliveries. We anyway get various complaints from customers on this.
Still we consider UPS the best solution for us. As we get parcels shipped to us with a wide variety of parcel companies, we have some good idea of their qualities or pitfalls.

Though we are very sorry for whatever problems a customer may encounter, they are not of our making. Neither are we responsible for (at times rather hefty) import duties levied in some countries. We already refuse to ship to some countries where import procedures and fees are out of the ordinary to save both the customer and us from unpleasant conflict.

What we also see rather often is that customers do not check their mail which may contain warnings from UPS that a certain problem has occoured (say customer has not been at home at moment of call by UPS, import fees are demanded, tax number required etc). UPS have a really good information system, but if the customer does not read mail or (what quite often is the case) gave a non-working mail address (misspelled, mailbox full, over restrictive spamfilter) the best system is of no avail.

In short:

we do our best to get the goods ordered by a customer to him, but this also requires some cooperation from the customers side and we can never buypass local regulations and shortcomings.
What we can also not comply with are customer instructions such as "place parcel under the bush next to the house" (we do not travel with the parcel after all).
