Some customers find that when a motorcycle with Powerdynamo system in is left for some while unused, the battery is drained. Checking they find a small flow of something like  5mA or so through the regulator even as the system is switched off.

Indeed even when the main switch of a motorcycle is off, there might be some flow of current. Not only in motorcycles equipped with Powerdynamo, but practically in most of the older bikes that is the case.  Corrosion, weak insulation, moisture and dirt help the electricity to find a way.

Inside the powerdynamo regulator are semiconductor diodes. A perfect diode conducts electricity in one direction, and no current in the other direction. There is however no such thing as a perfect diode, There is still a very small amount of current that passes through the diode. This is usually negligible, but in the case of  motorcycles left idle for longer times, it might drain the battery.. Surely annoying, but natural and no defect.

Only solution when you know that the bike is not going to be used for some time, disconnect the battery or better still, take it out.
But know that, even if you keep the battery in a cupboard, it will loose energy, especially when in cold conditions.
